Visit in spring (April–June) or early fall (September–October) when the crowds are fewer, and the weather is mild… Perfect for wandering without breaking a sweat. 

🚤 Get Lost on Purpose 

Venice is a maze meant to be wandered. Don’t cling to the map. The real beauty is in the hidden corners, ivy-covered balconies, and quiet canals. 

💶 Avoid the Tourist Traps 

Skip restaurants with multilingual menus and “tourist specials.” Instead, find a local osteria or bacaro (wine bar) for cicchetti (Venetian tapas) and a spritz. 

🌊 Buy a Vaporetto Pass 

The vaporetto (water bus) is Venice’s public transport. A 72-hour pass pays for itself quickly and gives you unlimited rides—even to the outer islands. 

🧳 Pack Light & Waterproof 

Cobblestones + bridges = no place for roller luggage. Bring a comfy backpack and shoes. Bonus tip: Venice sometimes floods (acqua alta), so waterproof footwear is a plus!
